Why Should Men Get Massages?

Updated: Oct 13, 2021

Men's Version

Women are known as the ones that go to the spa to get their nails done, and have a nice relaxing massage. Men often don’t get massages as frequently as they should, whether other guys will think you’re a girly man, or men should not be pampered, or lack of education, or fear of what might happen.

Here are 10 reasons why men should be getting massages.

Don’t want the bros thinking you’re a girly man.

Many athletes consider massage an essential part of their training and recovery routine – Massage is a necessity for men who play physical sports, or working hard, or just doing manly things. My sports clients try to get a massage every two weeks during off-season I know after a weekend of Honey dew list

I am tight, sore, and ready for another weekend.. Massage not only eases muscle soreness, It speeds healing by boosting the body’s circulatory and immune system. A relaxing or Sports Massage is specifically designed to improve athletic performance.

Getting the “Blues”

Massage can be a real mood booster – Let's face it. Men are not likely to seek help or even admit when they’re feeling “blue”. But the world is changing. While massage is not a substitute for therapy. Massage boosts the serotonin level and can provide a lift from the “blues” and improve mental outlook and stability.

Mobilly inclined

Now in some cities they have In-home convenience – Most men that don’t get massages, avoid getting massages because they don’t want to go to a Girly spa and sip Lemon or cucumber water or whatever the latest fad is. Sit there listening to New age space and tonal music. But not all messages are created equal — Some massages take place at your own home, hotel or office, in your own space and on your own time. I even have Clients listening to their pop rock on their Bluetooth speakers

No pain, no gain, or maybe fewer grey hairs.

Massage can take the edge off, bodily symptoms of stress, headache, high blood pressure, all of which can affect men as they age. A relaxing massage is perfect for reducing stress, improving performance, reducing pain, preventing injury, encouraging focus and shortening recovery time, Massage can even cure hangovers! Well, I don’t drink. But I hear that works

Jockeying because of position

Cure desk and Cellphone stiffness – Most people suffer from back, neck and shoulder pain, caused by playing desk jockey all day or repetitive work injury. A massage can ease these pains — Added Bonus. It feels great!

Accepting your own body

Be comfortable in your own skin – Normal male body reactions and functions are as I said… normal in a massage. Men avoid massages because they are afraid they’ll fall asleep and drool, pass gas or get an erection. I have had them all on my table. Normal physical reactions are accepted and your massage therapist should not be fazed at all. Unless it's silent but deadly, burn your eyebrows off kind of wind.

Boost Springiness

Let's face another fact. We get stiff in other places too, and keeps us from being flexible – Massage will increase your flexibility. I have seen Miracles with my own clients. Men are biologically less flexible than women, which leave them prone to injury and muscle pain.

Sleep it off

20% or 1 in 5 men suffer from insomnia, the ability to fall asleep or stay asleep escapes

them. Insomnia is associated with a lack of the hormone called serotonin, which is released during the massage, the “feel good hormone,” or the secretion of melatonin (the Sleep hormone) clock is way off or not strong enough. The relaxation and well-being you feel during and after a massage helps men fall asleep and spend more time in deeper healing sleep.

Hang on to your heart

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men in the United States. Massage is great for heart health. On average 1 in every 4 men have coronary heart disease, according to the CDC. Massage relaxes the body, boosts circulation, dilates blood vessels and lowers levels of cortisol, (the stress hormone). These are just a couple of things that help reduce stress on the heart and improve cardiovascular health.

Back in Pain

Most Normal and non normal men are extremely susceptible back pain. About 75 % of men will experience lower back pain. It will cost them time, money and possibly embarrassment. Massage is proven to loosen tense muscles and ease back pain in men.
